This book has "murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue" all wrapped together. Can't wait to dig into it!
Jen, I just want to give you a heads up on this book. I tried to read this book when it was a selection for a book club. The librarian said the book was good and I love mysteries and thrillers so I was excited.
ReplyDeleteThe beginning was very slow going, but I kept pushing through. Then as things started to get interesting, bam, there was a VERY descriptive rape scene. I thought it couldn't get any worse, so I continued to read. A few pages later, bam, it got worse.
This was not the first book I've read that had characters that were raped, but it was by far the most descriptive and brutal I have ever read. I felt like I wanted to scrub my eyes with a Brillo pad. It was that bad. If this book was a movie it would be R-rated. Thanks Rachelle. I still read the book. I was very impressed except for those few scenes.
ReplyDeleteAll 3 books have been made into movies in Sweden and, yes, they are rated R. Apparently, the movies follow the books EXACTLY.
I heard they are making the movies here. I wonder if they will be R as well.
